The UCSB Dance Company, a 9-member pre-professional dance company from the University of California, Santa Barbara, presents a dynamic concert of contemporary dance, enriched with lighting projections, video, and visual storytelling.
💡 Refractions: voices of light & dark reflects the artistic vision of contemporary choreographers through the prisms of light, dark, and movement. The program features six choreographers—faculty and guest artists—showcasing compelling, thought-provoking, and deeply honest works.
🎭 Premiering Works:
🔹 Maenad – Delila Moseley: a fusion of contemporary and balletic forms inspired by Greek mythology.
🔹 Dream – Christina McCarthy: a surreal dreamscape with puppets, pillows, and unexpected experiences.
🔹 Curio – Meredith Ventura: inspired by the radical cabaret dances of the 1920s and 30s.
