Corn grows to gigantic proportions, turkeys have lost the ability to reproduce, cows produce enormous amounts of milk, and dachshunds stretch to absurd dimensions. In the feverish pursuit of improving human living standards, humane treatment of animals is systematically violated. 👀 “Selective Breeding” explores complex themes related to survival, genetic manipulation, and the ethical implications of improving species through artificial selection. The performance employs the concept of a “kaleidoscope” to reflect on these issues, questioning the relationship between people and consumerism, land and exploitation, dignity and the protection of life within the ecosystem. The goal is to trace a scenario that opens the door to renewed awareness.
