Runway – Christiana Kosiari, Greece

RUNWAY is a solo performance on an endless 🏃‍♀️‍➡️ treadmill, depicting a woman’s feverish race against the corrosion of time. The piece explores the tension between health and self-torment as the performer runs in place, accompanied by composer Jan Van Angelopoulos and his electroacoustic soundscapes. Inspired by 👗 fashion catwalks, RUNWAY examines women’s behaviors and transformations in response to shifting standards of beauty. As she walks, runs, stumbles, and applies makeup, the treadmill becomes a stage for both silly walks and the struggle to maintain balance in a society that demands perfection. This treadmill serves simultaneously as a beauty tool and a metaphorical prison, critiquing the absurdity of contemporary beauty ideals. Ultimately, RUNWAY presents the treadmill as a conveyor belt for standardized products with an expiration date.
