Two naked bodies on stage, cloaked in light and shadow, and a sound experience that amplifies and deconstructs what unfolds during the performance are the elements that shape this dance piece. It invites us to connect with the resilience of our people and the rift created in contemporary identity processes in the southern region of the American continent.
WHAT IS IT THAT WE CALL OUR OWN?
When we look back, recalling what brought us here, which of the stories we tell or hear do we identify with the most or consider to be true? Using the poetic power of myth as a narrative thread, Luna, through sound and dance, invites us to question how collective identity is formed in our territories. In a space where differences dwell and in a time perceived as circular, the concept of “ch’ixi” emerges as an alternative that does not seek to blend, but rather acknowledges a reality where multiple histories, beliefs, and impulses coexist—not merging, but instead antagonizing or complementing one another.
This performance has been staged in various locations across Mexico, Chile, and Peru since mid-2022. In each of these places, a unique dialogue has been fostered with the performance space, the audience, and our memories.
