On 24 August 2026 at 7:30 PM, Derida Dance Center will present a public sharing of the creative process behind “Wish You All the Best”, a new project by Anna Pesetti developed during her residency in Sofia.

The event is part of the Derida Dance Center Residency Program and offers audiences an opportunity to encounter a work in progress and gain insight into the artistic research developed by the artists during their stay.

About the Project

“They say time heals all wounds. But what if time itself were the disease?”

This question lies at the heart of “Wish You All the Best”, a new work for two performers exploring time as a force of transformation and loss.

The project emerges from a sense of gradual drifting apart — from the people we have loved, from who we once were, and from the versions of ourselves we wished to preserve. At its core is the persistent human attempt to hold on to what time continues, inevitably, to transform.

The performance begins with a single figure on stage. Through speech and continuous movement in place, supported by the use of sliding discs, the performer establishes a direct relationship with the audience. This initial movement creates a sense of constant transition — a progression without a clear destination, yet one that feels unavoidable.

A gradual build-up of light and the use of strobe effects disrupt the perception of space and time. From this rupture, a second performer appears, introducing a new dimension to the work — one that is more physical, relational, and centred on the encounter between two bodies.

In the central section, the performers begin to share the space and embark on a common journey. The sliding discs become a choreographic tool, allowing the bodies to approach one another, drift apart, and continuously reposition themselves without ever reaching complete stillness.

Their relationship develops through a dialogue between live and pre-recorded voices, creating a space suspended between closeness and distance, presence and memory, reality and its gradual transformation.

The final section moves towards a more intensely physical duet and direct bodily contact. Here, the research focuses on the ways in which time changes our perception of others and of ourselves, as well as on the growing distance between the memory of a person and their inevitable transformation over time.

The Residency

During their stay at Derida Dance Center, Anna Pesetti and Riccardo Zoppi are developing the relationship between words and movement, the physical dramaturgy of the duet, and a theatrical language capable of translating the central questions of the project into choreographic form.

The public sharing on 24 August will offer a glimpse into this ongoing process and into the stage images, movement material, and relationships that are still being explored and developed.
