We are excited to announce the selected teams as a result of the open call to young Bulgarian choreographers, dance teams, and companies working independently. After expert review of all applications, five teams were chosen to present their latest dance performances at Derida Stage.
The goal of our initiative is to support Bulgarian professional artists and organizations in the field of contemporary dance by providing them with the opportunity to showcase their work. Each of the selected teams will receive financial support of 700 BGN and three days of free access to Derida Stage for rehearsals and public presentations, as well as technical support.
The selected teams will also have the opportunity to participate in lectures and practical sessions on the topics “Networking and Successful Creative Development in Bulgaria and Abroad” with lecturer Atanas Maev, and “Performance Design According to Selection Committee Criteria” with lecturer Zhivko Zhelyazkov.
After the evaluation process, we are pleased to announce the following choreographers who will have the opportunity to present their works by the end of 2024:
- Bratan Bratanov with the project “AudioSelf”;
- Elena Marinova with the project „Светлотърсач“;
- Mihail Bonev with the project “DasMan”;
- Filip Milanov with the project “waR|Raw FACES”;
- Simona Todorova and Isabel Mitkova with the project „Чертеж на съня“.
We thank everyone who submitted their applications and demonstrated their passion and creativity. We look forward to seeing the performances of the selected teams in the coming months and supporting the development of contemporary dance in Bulgaria.
