The performance “FRACTUS” by Derida Dance Company was presented as part of the opening program of the 33rd edition of the international festival Quinzena de Dança de Almada in Portugal. The festival is one of the most significant contemporary dance events in the country, bringing together artists, curators, and cultural professionals from across Europe.

The participation of the Bulgarian company in the festival’s opening program is also a natural continuation of the long-standing partnership between Derida Dance Center and the organization behind the festival, which has been developing for more than 10 years. During this period, a number of artistic exchanges, collaborative projects, and international dance initiatives have been realized together.
The performance “FRACTUS”, created by the choreographer and artistic director of Derida Dance Center Jivko Jeliazkov, explores themes related to the fragmentation of contemporary society, processes of disintegration, and the possibility of new forms of connection between people. Through dynamic physical expression, a strong visual environment, and the company’s distinctive research-based approach to movement, the piece creates an intense stage experience.
In addition to presenting the performance, the Derida Dance Center team is also taking part in a conference dedicated to European cooperation projects in the field of performing arts. The meeting gathers representatives of cultural organizations and festivals from different countries and aims to encourage the exchange of ideas, partnerships, and new international initiatives.
As part of the festival program, the artistic director of Derida Dance Center, Jivko Jeliazkov, will also lead a professional workshop for dancers and artists interested in research-based practices in contemporary dance and the development of physical movement language.
The participation of Derida Dance Company in Quinzena de Dança de Almada is another step in the organization’s international activity and further strengthens the presence of Bulgarian contemporary dance within the European cultural context.
