Where I Run / Quo Fugio – Boris Oriuela and Jessica Castiön, Spain (double bill)

“Quo Fugio” is a 15-minute dance piece that combines movement, techniques, and theatrical elements to create a surreal and introspective experience. The work 💭 explores duality, the search for identity, and the connection to the subconscious, drawing inspiration from elements of avant-garde cinema, anime culture, and classic fairy tales, through an exploration of the concept of flight as a form of resistance and liberation. The performance builds on the ideas of the French philosopher Gilles Deleuze, who proposes the idea of the “line of flight” as a way to escape power structures and create new possibilities for existence. The performance consists of four parts, each representing a different form of escape: physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual.

👉 The choreography adapts to audience reaction and momentary dynamics, incorporating styles drawn from diverse dance techniques, from contemporary to urban styles such as popping, robotic-inspired, electro, and the most theatrical gestures. The soundscape and text are carefully crafted to immerse the audience in the surreal atmosphere of the narrative, using engaging sound effects, voices with artificial intelligence, and stories that unfold as the characters uncover the truth behind their journey. “Quo Fugio” is a piece that invites us to 💭👀 contemplate the transience of reality, presenting a provocative and moving vision of existence. The work is developed through a methodology that combines experimentation and improvisation.
