“50 Seconds” is a performance by Derida Company, the first stage adaptation of the eponymous tragicomedy by Sabina Stefanova. This is the latest work by the author, which was nominated in the spring of 2023 in the National Competition for Bulgarian Playwriting “Ivan Radoev” in Pleven. The performance focuses the audience’s attention on the themes of guilt and the destructive consequences of living with a sense of anxiety. With much irony and constant returns to memory, He and She will remain silent for 50 seconds, attempting to reconnect, relying on love. In the performance, the boundaries of space and time blur, and the tension from the unspoken creates a dynamic behavior that continually surprises both the characters and the audience in their experience.
