PAS BOUGER is a visual dance performance by Derida company and the first Bulgarian stage realization of the play of the same name by the French play author Emmanuel Darley.
In the work, character A is in constant search, moving in a straight line, and character B is contemplating motionless. Despite the diametrically opposed states of presence and concepts that follow, A and B manage to meet and unite around a deep and superficial, painful and ironic, essential and meaningless question: How to live?
Aesthetics of the play determines the stage realization of DO NOT MOVE. The team fully follows the minimalist structure, seeking maximum economy in developing the movement, music and visual environment. The French reading of the play is hypnotically incorporated into the sound environment, and the subtitles in Bulgarian add additional value to the experience. The overall harmony of the interaction of text, movement, sound and visual environment provokes associativeness and contributes to a complete emotional catharsis.
B: “Knows the day. Night. Light. Sun. Clouds. Sunrise, sunset, moon, stars, Saturn, Jupiter. Knows wind, knows cold, warm, rain, snow. Frost. Fear, anticipation. Boredom. Elapsed time. Time to come…”
Author`s words:
“The joy of writing. To write this, not moving, suddenly, without warning.
The joy of first reading. Words that sound and correspond to each other.
The laughter of others, and then my own”.
The project is implemented with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture.
The play was presented in Bulgarian at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” in the form of a reading in 2008 within the ProText platform of the Organization for Contemporary Alternative Art and Culture “36 MONKEYS”.
