Dancing Histories Project Meeting in Belgarde, 24-26 March 2025

On 24/26th of March 2025 all partners get together in Belgrade (Serbia) to discuss and plan the forthcoming DH Festival 2025 that brings contemporary dance, local communities, and cultural heritage together.

Alea iacta est! The dates for #DHfestival2025 are set! Mark your calendars and get ready to experience Derida Company’s new performances in these stunning historical sites:

📍 Scream – 20 & 21 May – Hall of Urns, Castel Sant’Angelo, Rome, 🇮🇹

SCREAM is the pulse of a generation torn between silence and scream, between the fear of feeling and the need to be heard. This performance is aimed at a young audience—one searching for its voice in a world filled with both noise and silence. Inspired by Andrea Camilleri’s No Time Left to Be Born, this is not a story. It is the moment when you look into another’s eyes and see yourself. It is the moment when the body speaks because words are no longer enough.

📍 (In)Visible – 7 June – Roman Thermae, Archaeological Park Viminacium, 🇷🇸

What does it mean to be part of society yet remain unseen? “(In)Visible” is a contemporary dance performance that explores the experience of social isolation in small communities—those who, for various reasons, find themselves on the margins of society or consciously choose the safety of seclusion. The performance  features first-person accounts from individuals who had experienced social isolation for different reasons and will be based on texts of nine contemporary Serbian writers. It will take place in a space that once served as a hub for social interaction—the Roman bath, a place where bodies gathered, conversed, and connected. The echoes of the past blend with the present, as the bath of today transforms into a personal space where the boundaries between the public and the private world blur.

📍 The Exit Is A Myth – 26 July – Templo de Diana, Mérida, 🇪🇸

A contemporary dance performance that delves into the depths of human psychology, isolation, and identity. Inspired by Jorge Luis Borges’ short story “The House of Asterion”, the performance reimagines the myth of the Minotaur—not as a monster, but as a consciousness trapped in a labyrinth of fears, prejudices, and solitude in a close collaboration with the local LGBTDIA+ community in Merida.

📍 Shell of Silence – 6 August – Archaeological Park of Nora, Sardinia, 🇮🇹

The piece will be based on fragments from works of Grazia Deledda – the first Italian woman to receive the Nobel Prize for Literature. Her texts, describing the Sardinian landscape and nature, will serve as a background of our performance that will tackle with the current ecological crisis and sea pollution.

Plan your vacation and join us for a journey where the past meets the present through dance!
