We’re excited to share that over the past two days, one of the driving forces of our team, Atanas Maev, took part in Dansa València, where more than 180 professionals in contemporary dance and performance come together.
As the manager of Moving Balkans, a platform, Atanas presented its mission and activities to the festival guests.
Moving Balkans is a regional initiative supporting the development and international visibility of contemporary dance in the Balkan region. It brings together organizations and artists from different countries to foster collaboration, exchange, and mobility, while creating more opportunities for Balkan creators on the European stage. Through networks, platforms, and collaborative projects, the initiative aims to strengthen the dance sector in the region and connect it more actively to the international cultural landscape.
In addition, as a board member of European Dance Development Network, he also presented the new initiative led by Aerowaves, European Dance Festival Network, and European Dance Development Network – #DanceMattersEurope.
#DanceMattersEurope is a European initiative that aims to raise the importance of contemporary dance within EU cultural policies and funding. It brings together leading networks and organizations in the sector to advocate for greater visibility, sustainability, and support for dance, especially in the context of the EU’s future budget. Through campaigns, events, and dialogue with institutions, the initiative highlights dance as a vital cultural and social force that deserves stronger recognition and investment.
Through his presence at the festival, Atanas Maev also had the opportunity to immerse himself in the artistic programme, featuring leading names in European contemporary dance. Among them are established artists such as Rocío Molina, Gustavo Ramírez Sansano, Paula Quintana, and María Muñoz, as well as creators working collaboratively like Jon López and Martxel Rodríguez (Led Silhouette). The programme also includes a strong presence of emerging artists such as Núria Crespo, Richard Mascherin, Akira Yoshida, and Laura Morales, alongside several local creators from Valencia. This selection reflects both established and new voices in contemporary dance, highlighting the diversity and dynamism of the scene.
