Open Call for Artistic Residency – 2 Solo Dance Projects

VIADANSE – National Choreographic Center of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté in Belfort, France, in partnership with the French Institute in Budapest and Derida Dance Center in Sofia, is offering a one-week working residency for two choreographers, each developing a solo project, in the beautiful facilities of VIADANSE.

📅 Residency Dates:
6 October (Monday) – 10 October (Friday) 2025
(arrival on Monday morning, departure on Saturday – 11 October)

📍 Location:
Rehearsal studio, VIADANSE, Belfort, France

Belfort is located in eastern France, between the Vosges and Jura mountains, near the Swiss border and not far from Germany.

🎯 Eligibility Criteria:

  • You are a choreographer based in Hungary or Bulgaria.
  • You are currently developing your own solo project in its early stages.
  • You have already created at least one choreographic performance.
  • Special attention will be given to projects led by female artists.

🎭 Residency Objectives:

  • Provide time and space for creation and experimentation in a professional setting.
  • Offer artistic support from choreographers Héla Fattoumi and Éric Lamoureux.
  • Ensure access to high-quality working space.
  • Optional public sharing of work-in-progress at the end of the residency.
  • Foster connections with the local dance scene.

🛠️ Residency Offers:

  • 135 m² rehearsal studio, with a capacity of 50 audience members;
  • Accommodation in Belfort (5 minutes walking distance from the studio);
  • Local transport in France (from the airport or train station in Basel);
  • On-site logistical support throughout the residency;
  • Round-trip ticket from Hungary/Bulgaria to France;
  • Per diem allowance for the entire stay.

About Derida Dance Center:
